Sorry for the lack of updates in this here blog/art portfolio thingy, but on top of the usual holiday diversions I’ve been mucho busy with the Tarot project ever since it was officially greenlit into production.
Speaking of which, above you’ll see the latest completed card: The Hermit. Featuring the one and only John A. Keel, one of our favorite Fortean authors.
There was actually an interesting synchronicity with this particular card. Due to the schedule I keep, I was planning on finishing the card by the second week of December. As luck would have it, I did manage to complete the artwork satisfactorily on the night of December 15th, despite the fact the card was full of details –like the Silver Bridge of Point Pleasant, Va; an integral part in the Mothman lore which Keel was instrumental in popularizing with his book The Mothman Prophecies.
It was only a few days later that I realized I had actually managed to complete the card on the actual anniversary of the bridge’s collapse. This was totally unplanned on my part –I had chosen to work on the Hermit card first after the campaign’s end arbitrarily, and as all artists would know there are always obstacles and circumstantial snags preventing you from fulfilling your deadlines. That was not the case with this one, though, and I for one find this coincidence pretty significant –whether it signifies a good or bad omen, I leave that for you to decide.
But enough of that, for I have LOT to do before the week is over. Which leaves me to the second reason behind this post…
As much as I would love to work on other art commissions simultaneously while I’m completing the remainder part of the Tarot’s Major Arcana, I gotta be realistic: There are just 24 hours in a day and the project’s schedule is incredibly tight as it is; not to mention that aside from the cards I’ll have to sort out other campaign details, like completing three original artworks for the generous campaign backers that contributed the most –thanks Loren, Greg and Josh!!
Which is why I am sadly announcing that, for the time being, all art commission or design job requests will be CLOSED, until my Tarot duties are satisfactorily completed.
If you have an art commission or design project that is not terribly urgent, drop me a line by the end of November, if not then I am afraid you’ll have to seek the services of another artist.
Thank you for understanding, and stay tuned for more Tarot updates 🙂
